Safe railways for Australia

Branch offices

The ONRSR has branch offices in Adelaide (Central Branch), Sydney (New South Wales Branch), Melbourne (Victoria Branch) and Perth (Western Australia Branch). A further branch office is expected in Brisbane once the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL) is passed in Queensland.

Central Branch

The Central Branch office provides operational regulatory staff to cover rail operations under the RSNL in South Australia, Tasmania, Northern Territory and Australian Capital Territory. Under the RSNL, all forms of rail transport (e.g. train and tram) are regulated by ONRSR in these jurisdictions.

New South Wales (NSW) Branch

The NSW Branch office provides operational regulatory staff to cover rail operations under the RSNL in New South Wales. Under the RSNL, all forms of rail transport (e.g. train and tram) are regulated by ONRSR in NSW.

Victoria (VIC) Branch

The VIC Branch office provides operational regulatory staff to cover rail operations under the RSNL in Victoria. Light rail (trams) and some Tourist and Heritage operations are excluded from the RSNL in Victoria and will continue to be regulated by TSV.

Western Australia (WA) Branch

The WA Branch office provides operational regulatory staff to cover rail operations under the RSNL in Western Australia. Under the RSNL, all forms of rail transport (e.g. train and tram) are regulated by ONRSR in WA.
