ONRSR in NSW and the ACT

13 March 2017

The Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) officially transitioned to a direct delivery model in NSW on 10 March 2017, following the termination of the Service Level Agreement that had been in place with the Independent Transport Safety Regulator (ITSR) since January 2013. ITSR is due to be formally wound up in the coming weeks.

All ITSR staff other than the CEO are transferring to ONRSR and it will be business as usual for all operators dealing with our Sydney office.

On 1 May, the NSW Branch will move to Level 4, 309 Kent Street, Sydney. The phone number for the new office will be 1800 572 077.

Please also note that as of 10 March, rail safety regulation in the ACT is the responsibility of the NSW Branch. This was previously handled by our Central Branch in Adelaide.
