The Operations Forum aims to give the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) and rail industry representatives the opportunity to exchange ideas and discuss localised operational rail safety and regulation issues specific to that region.
The Forum is held at the discretion of individual Directors Operations to suit office circumstances and local operational issues. It is intended that a Forum is held by each ONRSR Office at least once a year.
The forum typically takes place over the course of a day (with networking oportunities included), with a large part of the day devoted to issues of interest and of local relevance that have been identified. This takes the form of presentations, panel discussions and/or interactive workshops.
A part of the day also incorporates presentation of information by the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator about regulation activities, which includes time for questions from attendees.
