Safety performance reporting

A Safety Performance Report is a requirement under section 103 of the Rail Safety National Law (RSNL). Section 103 details a rail transport operator’s obligations regarding safety performance reports and specifies what the report must contain. Regulation 17(4) of the National Regulations further requires that the outcomes of the review of the safety management system be summarised and reported in the safety performance report.

It is important to keep in mind that a safety performance report is not a public document and officers must treat the report confidentially in accordance with section 244 of the RSNL.

Safety performance reports should be lodged via email to ONRSR's National Office at If email is unavailable to your organisation please lodge via hard copy to PO Box 3461, Rundle Mall, Adelaide SA 5000.
