Chaired by Peter Doggett, Chief Operating Officer, the monthly NOC meeting, attended by all ONRSR General Managers as well as other key managers provides a key means of achieving national uniformity and consistency in operational matters across the country.
The monthly NOC meeting provides an important means of achieving uniformity and consistency in operational matters across the country and plays a critical role in delivering safe railways for Australia.
The meeting is held on the second Thursday of each month, chaired by Peter Doggett, Chief Operating Officer and attended by all ONRSR General Managers as well as other key managers for Regulatory Operations and Technical across each office.
NOC meetings present a great opportunity whereby GMs can review significant operational issues and share insights from across Australia. The Committee can also identify, discuss and monitor strategic rail safety risks, known and emerging, and determine where action is required from other ONRSR specialists (such as legal, investigations, data analytics, policy, and stakeholder engagement).
An opportunity exists for operators to schedule a time slot (usually 30 - 45 minutes) at a NOC meeting to have an open and honest two-way conversation with key decision makers within ONRSR to present ideas and/or concerns to the group. This enables operators to understand the reasoning behind regulatory decisions made by ONRSR officers, and for all parties to gain a greater appreciation of the decision-making processes we all follow, leading to a greater shared commitment to improving rail safety. Note: only one operator can be scheduled to appear at each NOC meeting.
The NOC serves as an internal meeting while our Engaugement Forums enable operators to come together and meet with the relevant ONRSR General Manager and other staff to discuss local and national rail safety issues. Learn more about our Engaugement Forums.
