ONRSR collects data from operators through notifiable occurrences, enabling us to identify safety concerns and work proactively with industry to resolve them.

The requirements for operator reporting of notifiable occurrences are set out in the Reporting Requirements for Notifiable Occurrence document. The processes for the capture, validation and quality of occurrence data are managed by ONRSR's Rail Information Officers. This data assists with identifying and monitoring operator safety concerns and is a key input into our risk-based planning for our regulatory priorities and activities.
