2026-27 Annual Fees

ONRSR’s cost of regulation for 2026-27 has been approved by Infrastructure and Transport Ministers and the updated Fee Regulation was gazetted on 18 June 2026.

The change to annual fees for 2026-27 were impacted by:

  1. applying an average consumer price index (CPI) of 2.8% to ONRSR’s cost of regulation
  2. a reduction in government contributions, resulting in a corresponding increase for industry within those jurisdictions (fee rates for operations in New South Wales, Victoria and the Northern Territory are expected to see a higher average increase - 11 per cent, than other jurisdictions - averaging 4 per cent)
  3. the kilometres of track managed and/or the distance travelled by trains reported to ONRSR. These reports will determine the variable component of annual fees.

ONRSR advised accredited entities of their expected annual fees for the coming year via email on 10 March and on 30 June provided them with further details following Ministerial approval.

Invoices will be issued to all accredited entities in early August 2026.

ONRSR’s annual fees are not subject to GST.
