Are you passionate about data administration, with strengths in data validation, transformation, analytics and a deep understanding of data quality?

About the opportunity

The Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator (ONRSR) is looking for a Rail Information Officer. Our Rail Information Officers play a pivotal role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of data across our organisation, ensuring data from Rail Transport Operators (RTOs) and data created internally meets our rigorous quality standards.

Leveraging your professionalism and strong communication skills, you will form close working relationships with RTOs, assisting them in submitting factual data that meets our formatting requirements. Your knowledge of data validation approaches will further ensure that the data is of a high quality, readily available to users and meets the requirements under the Rail Safety National Law.

We are looking for a motivated and purpose-driven individual ready to embrace an opportunity to have an impact on rail safety outcomes. Working in a newly formed operating model, your enthusiasm and demonstrated experience in data management will support the accurate reporting and sharing of rail safety data. You will meticulously inspect, validate and cleanse data, ensuring it is correct and complete – proactively detecting and rectifying inaccuracies.

About you - your impact and contribution

You have proven experience in a data management function including routine data processing, data protection and security, data quality assurance, and liaising with data providers to ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and completeness of information.

You have demonstrated ability in the use of databases and data extraction, analysis, and reporting tools; and experience in the preparation of reports involving basic statistical analysis and commentary.

You will be providing business and technical support to broad range of stakeholders so your well-developed written and verbal communication skills will enable effective consultation and negotiation.

You can work independently with minimal direction and can demonstrate initiative when managing high volumes of work and determining priorities. You can also pro-actively identify problems and exercise independence and sound judgement in formulating and implementing solutions whilst dealing with sensitive data.

Our Organisation and Culture

Be part of a values-led organisation with a strong commitment to its Culture Blueprint - the foundation for our purposeful, diverse and inclusive workplace and a key contributor to how we achieve our vision of Safe Railways for all Australians.
